The goal of therapy is to deepen one's own understanding of the self. It is in the deep conversation that one can begin to heal. Talking about one's emotional life, describing the experiences and acknowledging ones thoughts and feelings are key elements in understanding how and why things may have occurred. People often seek therapy when there is a difficult situation. Feelings of distress, fear or loss, life changes or relationship struggles also bring people to seek help. Therapy provides a place to express these feelings and understand them. Most people want to enjoy life and find happiness in their relationships and work lives. Therapy can open the mind, be enriching and lead to a more harmonious life.
I use a creative approach in therapy. When working with children and teenagers, I might play games, draw or paint. Dreams are also very helpful when revisited in the therapy setting. I work with adolescents, adults and couples. I also facilitate a group for parents of teens and a support group for women.
